Duration: 4h of walk Difficulty: Little Difficult Difference in altitude: 350 meters
Meet and greet at the hotel then Departure for the Andringitra National Park.
In Ambalavao, visit the artisanal paper mill Antemoro. This vegetable paper made from mulberry bark Avoha was introduced in Madagascar in the 15th century by the Arabs and is still made today on the same process by this small workshop of Ambalavao. Continuation by a track sometimes difficult but with splendid landscapes, we go to the heart of the park of Andringitra. This huge massif is facing us and bar the horizon of its granite ridges. So, you enter the valley of Namoly dominated by the cliffs of Andringitra massif, in which you locate two large waterfalls. Go down the Zomandao River to reach a small clearing. This is the place of your first bivouac, Belambo, which means a lot of wild boars in Malagasy. Your discovery of the park begins with a small loop in the forest to access the feet of the waterfalls of the Zomandao River. The water here is a great wealth and you are in a tropical rainforest, typical of the rainy climate of the East and very different the dry tropical forest of the valley of the camp. Through abundant vegetation where Madagascan medicinal plants, Orchids, Ferns, Phylipias and Calenchoees rub shoulders, you reach the edge of the river. There is a cave and its remains, the past dwelling of zebu’s guardians before the forest is protected. After a point of view on the circus and its waterfalls, you dive into the vegetation composed little by little of the big trees of the family of the Dombeyas and the Agoryas, in which many creepers intermingle. You also pass by canals originally irrigating rice paddies of the Namoly Valley. The trail leads to the foot of the impressive Andrianbavy Falls or Cascade of the queens. In the dry season, you can cross the torrent to approach a little further down the second, Andriandahy fall or Cascade du Roi. The names of these Sacred Waterfalls 250 and 300 meters high result from the arrival of the queen and the king of Ambalavao, in search of the pure water which allowed them, under the guidance of a healer, the birth of their eight children.
Night in bivouacs in the forest.

Day 2: Andringitra National Park

Duration: 8h walk Difficulty: Little difficult Vertical drop: 750 meters
Early departure for the site of Diavolana or the extra terrestrial. A rather steep climb with a beautiful view opens in front of you on large granite cliffs, the supports of the famous Pic Boby. The path leads you gradually to a small pass. You thus arrive on the plateau of the extraterrestrial or Plateau of lights. In the lunar atmosphere of this granitic expanse dotted with small natural pools, you can admire the stacks of stones in balance. Here you will find the vegetation of the West side: Palm trees, Paws of Hen and Calencoees. The path takes you north to the south of the plateau, with a view of the Tsaranoro massif and the Sahanambo valley. You start then crossing to the South, passing by the wonderful swimming pools of Andranolava. Ideal place to relax, the less cautious can also swim there.
