The great Malagasy South, a wild and unknown territory of the general public but which contains the most beautiful natural sites of the island.
It is here that the Tropic of Capricorn crosses this geographical area. Leathery and thorny plants composed of cactus, aloe and savannah peculiar to the semi-desert are the main vegetation that can be seen during the exploration of this part of the island. From time to time, we can see plantations of periwinkles, peppers or cape peas whose products are destined for export. These are the main riches of the region in addition to herds of zebus.

D3: FORT DAUPHIN – BERENTY

On the way to the Berenty private reserve. The road leading to Berenty will allow you to discover the peculiarities of the countries of Anosy: lush landscape, carnivorous plants and endemic trihedral palms. Stop on the way to discover stelae and mortuary stones. Early evening guided tour of the Berenty reserve to discover various species of nocturnal lemurs. Installation in half board at the cottage.

D4: BERENTY- FALSE CAP

D5: FAUX CAP – CAP SAINTE MARIE – LAVANONO

We take the road again to join CAP SAINTE MARIE, the extreme south of the island. Beautiful beaches, high sandstone cliffs, and caves offer a dream landscape at the tip of southern Madagascar. D6: LAVANONO – ITAMPOLO

D8: ITAMPOLO – ANAKAO

On the way to Beheloka and Anakao. We drive on sandy tracks always admiring the tombs and different species of vegetation. Lunch in Beheloka and possibility to enjoy one of the most beautiful beach on the island before continuing to Anakao. Night at the hotel

D9 & J10: ANAKAO

Anakao, with its long beach, Vezo fishermen is almost accessible only by the sea. It is also possible to get there from Tuléar via local travel agencies.
The village keeps an image close to the paradise for travelers in need of idleness, far from the mass tourism, where the main activities are to attend the return of peaches, to dive in bottles or palms-mask-snorkel.
The place retains its authenticity that will seduce all those who can sacrifice a little comfort (hot water is rare and rudimentary accommodation).
Nearby, you can discover the island of Nosy Ve and its beautiful backgrounds, its deserted beach and its bird colonies (including the straw-tail). The island is now protected and an entrance fee is required to visit it.

D12: RANOHIRA

Early departure for the discovery of the ruiniform massif of ISALO. Start of the hike in CANYON DES MAKI. Possibility to see the LEMURS CATTA and the lemurs “vazaha”. Then, continue the walk by the ridge to reach the natural pool, a small oasis in the middle of arid vegetation. D13: RANOHIRA – FIANARANTSOA

Departure after breakfast and transfer to FIANARANTSOA.

D14: FIANARANTSOA – MANAKARA

D16 to D18: RANOMAFANA 6 to 7 walking a day

The name of Ranomafana has long been associated with the thermalism of which it is the second site of the island. Today it evokes still more the treasures of the forest of the East and the Ecotourism. Since June 2007, Ranomafana and 5 other Eastern Coast Parks have been collectively admitted to Unesco World Heritage. Accessible from Ambohimahasoa on the RN7 and covering an area of ​​41,600 ha, the Ranomafana National Park is one of the best equipped for the discovery of the biodiversity of the Eastern Rainforest. Nestled in a mountainous area with plenty of water, which earned it the nickname of “Land of Mists”, the island’s second thermal site, it alternates between green cliffs and streams dotted with waterfalls. It contains 12 species of lemurs whose territories are well known (Black Sifaka diadem, Hapalémur Aureus, Hapalémur Simus, or Microcebus Rufus, the smallest lemur which is observed at night Talatakely site). Ranomafana is a Mecca of birdwatching, has 114 species of birds of Madagascar, to watch and listen especially in September-October. Chameleons are here the most colorful and the most attractive. Tree species have many valuable or medicinal species. In the undergrowth, pandanus, ferns, orchids, lianas and strangler figs accentuate the tropical character of the forest. The itineraries are focused on the observation of a particularly rich fauna and flora with possibilities of nocturnal visits, as well as on the discovery of cultural and historical sites.
We will spend 3 days trekking and discovering one of the most beautiful park in Madagascar, we will spend 2 nights in bivouacs in the middle of the rainforest.

D19: RANOMAFANA – ANTSIRABE

Transfer to Antsirabe. Passage to Ambositra, the capital of Malagasy crafts.
Discovery of the typical landscapes of the highlands, between terracotta house and terraced rice field.

D20: ANTSIRABE

Discover the Vakinakaratra region by bike.
It takes about 18 kilometers to reach the lakes (7km to Andraikiba + 11km to Tritriva). Take the RN34 towards West Antsirabe, then, 7km, turn left to reach the 1st Andraikiba Lake. At the end of 500m, the lake appears on the right, as well as the fishermen who live from the fishing of freshwater fish, such as tilapia, the carp or the black bass.
To reach the second lake, Lake Tritriva, considered sacred by the Malagasy, continue straight on a red dirt track on 10km. crossing typical upland landscapes with brick houses. The area is very fertile because the land is volcanic. Leave the mountain bike at the village of Belazao, then, just at the exit of the village, take a small climb to the right that leads to the sacred lake, tucked between the cliffs. The depth of this lake exceeds one hundred meters, and presents deep blue-green colors. The guardian of this sacred lake will be present to narrate the legend of the Malagasy Romeo and Juliet.
